The ICSS is a unique program which brings together curators from around the world for a five week course of cultural and academic exchange. Participants benefit from access to the collections and to the Museum’s curators, conservation scientists and other scholars working across a range of fields. The insight and experience of the curatorial participants profoundly expands the Museum’s understanding of the world’s cultures represented in the collection and the challenges faced by colleagues around the world. All costs for the programme, including travel and living expenses, are covered by the Museum.
The British Museum seeks to establish a restricted fund in support of the International Curatorial Summer School to ensure its continued development and operation. The cost per trainee in 2006 was $20,000 for each of 18 trainees.
There is a suggested donation of $5,000+ annually, though we welcome all gifts.
Individuals giving at or above the suggested amount of $5,000 will receive the following communications and invitations:
- Report on Summer School activity at conclusion of sponsored session
- Invitation to attend a reception in London to meet all Participants and Museum curators
- Acknowledgement as supporter on printed ICSS materials
